I do agree though, that the Civil War as an expansion for an "Empire 2" game would work good.ĭont have "Fall of the Samurai" or the other Japanese based TW. If those creative liberties are acceptable, then I'm sure what they would need to do for the Civil War would be acceptable as well, even to hardcore history buffs like me. In TW, it's a massive conflict that can last over a decade and you can even recruit US marines to fight for the Japanese. In real life, that was a small regional conflict without any major battles that only had 3,000 dead and lasted a year. Look at what they did with "Fall of Samurai".

See Attila: Total War for more info on this.Īs said, this idea is most likely a mod for Empires, and might work well that way. Originally posted by Jack Skellington:Yes, TW gets a creative with history, but to set a TW game on a certain war/character, doesn't seem to go well with TW's gameplay. As well as trenches, metal battleships, carriers, submarines and tanks(more new units!) It'd definitely be a change of pace to the series! Perhaps it'd be worth a mod?Ī World War Total War would be epic! It'd bring in a new unit not seen in any previous Total War games-airplanes! It could very well rejuvenate the series. Personally, I feel like the Civil War, while interesting in a Total War game, wouldn't be much more other than a different map and factions in comparison of Empires.

It would be fun to have a total war game full of Island hopping where professional troops are quite rare, and it would make the naval aspect far more important then all previous total war games. That would involve a nice mix of professional armies, civilian milia, natives, pirates, and privateers. I'd also like to see a "Pirate of the Caribbean" Total War in the Caribbean zone during the 17th Century. Also FOS showed that a nearly-all gun unit army can still be awesome in the Total War universe, which was badly needed after the trash heap that was Empire. The time period was already covered in "Fall of Samurai", so having it take place in America during those years wouldn't be a huge leap. It just seems like the next logical step. My first pick would be the American Civil War. If that's your situation, hang around the sub for a couple of days and leave a few comments - you'll be able to post in no time! Need more details?
